Huginn is an open-source automation platform for building personal agents that monitor the web, react to events, and perform actions on a user’s behalf. Users create networks of agents that can watch websites and feeds, receive webhooks, transform data, trigger schedules, send notifications, and connect online services. It is often compared with automation tools such as Zapier or IFTTT, but is designed to be self-hosted and highly customizable.

Huginn predates the current generation of LLM agents, so its concept of an agent is closer to an event-driven automation component than an autonomous AI assistant. Even so, it remains useful for web monitoring, notifications, data collection, and custom workflow automation, and it can be integrated with newer AI services when needed. It is best suited to technically comfortable users who want to own their automation infrastructure and build persistent workflows from modular components.
