ChatGLM2-6B is an open-source bilingual conversational language model. The repository code is released under the Apache-2.0 license, while use of the ChatGLM2-6B model weights is governed by a separate Model License. The model weights are fully available for academic research, and free commercial use is also permitted after completing the required registration questionnaire.

The project has since been succeeded by newer GLM-4 models, which provide improved capabilities and performance across multiple benchmarks. The GLM API platform provides access to models including GLM-4-0520, GLM-4-Air, GLM-4-AirX, GLM-4-Flash, GLM-4, GLM-3-Turbo, CharacterGLM-3, and CogView-3.

Models such as GLM-4 and GLM-3-Turbo also support additional capabilities including System Prompts, Function Calling, Retrieval, and Web Search, extending the GLM family beyond basic conversational language-model functionality.
