Khoj is an open-source personal AI application that can run privately on a user’s own computer or scale into a hosted or enterprise deployment. It combines conversational AI with personal knowledge retrieval, internet search, agents, automation, and semantic search so users can ask questions and delegate information-heavy tasks from a single assistant environment.

The system can work with local and cloud language models, including families such as Llama, Qwen, Gemma, Mistral, GPT, Claude, Gemini, and DeepSeek. It can search PDFs, Markdown, Word documents, Notion content, org-mode files, images, and other personal sources, while custom agents can be configured with their own knowledge, persona, model, and tools. Khoj can also generate images, use voice, create newsletters, and deliver scheduled research or notifications.
