SillyTavern is a locally installed, open-source interface for interacting with text-generation models, image generators, and text-to-speech systems. It supports a wide range of local and hosted LLM backends and gives users extensive control over prompts, characters, conversation context, lore, interface behavior, and model-specific settings.

The application includes features such as visual-novel-style conversations, lorebooks and World Info, automatic translation, TTS, image generation through systems such as AUTOMATIC1111 and ComfyUI, mobile-friendly layouts, and a large extension ecosystem. SillyTavern itself does not provide model inference; instead, it acts as a configurable frontend connecting to whichever compatible local or remote backend the user chooses.
